Join us for a short, but moderate hike through the UBC Malcolm Knapp Research Forest. Maintained by the Faculty of Forestry at UBC, the UBC Malcolm Knapp Research Forest was established in 1949 from a Crown grant. We will travel in a loop starting from the parking lot at the end of Silver Valley Road. While walking through a beautiful second-growth forest, we will see dogwood, pine, and cedar along mossy paths. There will be still marshes, bushy paths, and a variety of birds to watch like finches, chickadees, crows and more. Roundtrip distance is 8 km (5 mi) with a cumulative elevation gain of 140 m (460 ft). Meet at 8:30 am. Return 2:00 pm.
