BMN MONTHLY MEETING: Population Recovery of Coastal Western Painted Turtles in the South Coast of BC

Tuesday, May 9 2017 at 7:30 PM

The remaining population of painted turtles in our part of the province is officially listed as endangered. These are our only native freshwater turtles, and are often mistaken for red-eared sliders and other ‘pet’ turtle species that have been released into ponds and other waterways. At our May 9th meeting, SFU graduate student Deanna MacTavish will describe the recovery plans for this species, and a number of local projects aimed at creating and improving their habitat.

In the church hall of Como Lake United Church, corner of Marmont Avenue and King Albert Street in Coquitlam. Free and all are welcome. For a map, please click here. For more information, please call 604-461-3864.
