VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: Nestbox Cleaning at DeBoville Slough and along Oliver Road

Our first nest box cleaning foray of the year will be at DeBoville Slough and Oliver Road. Meet in the parking lot at the entrance to DeBoville Slough (at the intersection of Victoria and Cedar Drives) in NE Coquitlam. Birding with Larry at Colony Farm

Because this is in a closed area, we will meet at Minnekhada Park Quarry Road Parking lot to carpool from there through the locked gate to Widgeon Regional Reserve. We must arrive and leave together and expect to finish around 1 pm. Bring a snack. No washroom facilities are available but bushes are plentiful. Learn about Invasive Species at Minnekhada Lodge

Drop by Minnekhada Lodge's Open House and learn about invasives. Members of the Minnekhada Park Association will be there hosting activities for all ages. From 1-4 pm. 3rd Annual Burnaby Lake Bioblitz

What’s living at Burnaby Lake Regional Park? Help scientists and naturalists as they count all the species of plants, (non-human) animals and fungi that can be found. There will be activities going on through the 24 hour period; check online for details: bioblitz.burnabylakepark.ca. Last year 359 species were found. The total species count is at 488 species found across both years of the event. There are even more species out there, and we're hoping we can find them this year. All ages. Free, drop in. International Migratory Bird Day Celebration at Colony Farm
